BlogShares Mission
#85 – Blog and review: A Journey Through Life
Although I was lured in to reviewing the above mentioned blog just because of the attractive BlogShares prizes offered by the author, who also happens to be the top player in BlogShares, when I opened the blog, I was genuinely impressed with the neat & orderly fashion the blog was set-out. A well organised blog really stands out at the first glance. The tropical flowery background image gives a good character to the blog, beautifully accentuating the pink background, the maroon font, the butterfly-bullets and perhaps even the femininity of the author. However, if a viewer has a huge monitor or is on higher screen resolution mode, then this background image looks like its hanging right in the middle and kinda looks odd. Its also a bit of a nuisance if you are trying to glance over the text, but nonetheless, the posts are still very readable.
First impressions aside, I think this blog has a lot of things to do or look around or even learn from for that matter, be it for total strangers on the net or for friends & family of the author. For strangers the blog gives a good insight about the author and her life, who kinda comes across to me as a very deep, if not philosophical person; and for friends & family, an update on her life and events. Also, I think theres more info about the author’s home country – Philippines in the blog, than you can ever find on Wikipedia.com!!!
Well, I’m a budding BlogShares player and ‘ve just started a blog myself, but I got to confess that being a Politics student, I’m not all that computer savvy... at least not yet, nonetheless, although I’m a novice in html & javascript, viewing this blog’s page source was quite astounding!!! I’ve definitely got a lot to learn from this blog although it has a bit too much of javascript for my liking.
Anyway... here’s my 2 cents worth:
Positives---
- The intricate layout, esp. the sidebar
- Content
- Birthday Reminders!!! (I reckon that’s a really cool idea!)
Negatives---
- The hanging flowery background image
- Too much of javascript slows down the loading of the page, esp. if on dial-up
- The blog is best viewed with IE… and not Mozilla Firefox!
Overall... definitely a 9 on 10 from me!
(psst... I liked the idea of the "Guests online" webapp from nerdsonsite.com so much that I incorporated it into my blog as well!!!)
